The EMX team is expanding rapidly, and our goal is to introduce you to every member of the team personally. If you don’t know who is behind an exchange, how can you trust them with your assets? It doesn’t just take a vision to create the most secure, trusted and customer-focused exchange in the world–it takes great people. If you’re interested in joining us in executing this vision, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

EMX strives to become the world’s first fully regulated crypto derivatives exchange. Transparency and compliance are paramount to earning the trust of our customers and institutions around the world. We can’t accomplish this goal without strong legal guidance, and we believe it’s in our best interests to hire internally.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Jim Falvey has been appointed our new Chief Regulatory Officer and General Counsel.

Jim is an accomplished attorney with over 28 years of experience in the exchange sector, financial services, and cryptocurrencies. Prior to joining EMX, he served as General Counsel at the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), EurexUS, RJ O’Brien and Green Key Technologies. He was also the Chief Administrative Officer for the U.S. Futures Exchange, and a Director, Associate Counsel for CME Group. In addition, he has held various government positions, and previously served as an appointed member of the Technology Advisory Committee for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

His academic background is equally impressive; he holds three different academic degrees: a B.A. in Government from the University of Notre Dame, a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Over the past 5 years, he has been very active working in cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings, and blockchain. He has spoken at numerous conferences, participated as a guest on the world’s largest public radio station (based in the U.K.), and written several articles. He has also taught classes on blockchain and cryptocurrency and is in the process of designing a Masters-level course at a top university on the topic of blockchain and integrated marketing.

In his new role, Jim will oversee EMX’s regulatory and compliance functions, all legal aspects of the company, and will assume an active role in liaising with regulators in a bid to drive institutional cryptocurrency adoption.

Charting a path to regulation is going to be challenging, but we believe that Jim’s extensive expertise in regulation and compliance will help us overcome those challenges. Please join us in welcoming Jim to EMX! He can be reached on Telegram at @JimFalvey.
